Easter Eggs in Yesterday’s Tides
Did You Catch Them All?
Nearly all of my historical romance series made appearances in the pages of Yesterday’s Tides! Did you find them all? If any snuck past you, here’s the comprehensive list.
THE CULPER RING SERIES
Elsie is the grown-up version of the 4-year-old in Circle of Spies, and it mentions her “godmother” who helped her learn ASL, as well as her parents, who were the main characters in that book. Plus, the documents she’d had in her attic and which eventually make their way to the inn are all direct references to the codebooks and letters from my fictional Culpers, which travel through all three books. I always knew that Elsie would carry the Culper legacy forward into the 20th century, and I was so excited to get to explore a bit of how she did it!

LADIES OF THE MANOR
Brook and Justin (Duke and Duchess of Stafford) from The Lost Heiress are mentioned in the bombed wedding scene, for the tip of the hat to Ladies of the Manor series.

SHADOWS OVER ENGLAND
Barclay and his family make appearances from the Shadows Over England books, including references to his brother in law (Peter) being a writer and great correspondent and Willa and Lucas on the violin. Thanks to joining the family at Pauly’s Pub, Rem meets the entire motley collection of sisters and brothers. Plus, of course, Georgie is there in France!

THE CODEBREAKERS
Obviously the whole Room 40 team is there from Codebreakers. =) We see Margot from The Number of Love several times, and Rem attends her wedding, which actually took place in A Portrait of Loyalty as well. He is friends with Camden from On Wings of Devotion and Lily from A Portrait of Loyalty first replaces his dog-eared photo of Louisa, and then she plays a role in providing photographic evidence of Celeste.

SECRETS OF THE ISLES
Also during the London bombing/Margot wedding scene, Rem thinks about how the latest treatise on the Druids by Lord Sheridan will be his next book. Just a small nod to the characters from this series, but I had to find some way to work them in! 😉
