Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and that my fellow Americans enjoy their Thanksgiving holiday. I’m taking this week off from blogging to spend time with the family and get some fun things ready for my big sale. (Christmas boxes!) And also returning to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital for Rowyn’s first follow-up appointment. I’m also cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the first time ever this year, thanks to COVID (I usually just bake pies and rolls for the family meal), and am looking forward to some extra time for knitting and reading.
What are your plans this year? I’d love to hear about them! And if you’re really missing the blog, feel free to browse my plethora of Thanksgiving-themes posts!
This is my absolute, most favorite holiday of the year. But, my routine seems pretty typical; Baking the homemade apple pie the night before and waking up on Thursday morning and heading straight to the kitchen to start boiling the eggs (deviled eggs). And then, the most special; taking down my late Grandma’s handwritten recipe from the cabinet for broccoli cornbread. Seeing her handwriting every Thanksgiving morning is so special.
The boys will pop in and out of the kitchen from time to time to update me on the parade on TV. My favorite update is, “Mama! The Rockettes are coming on!” So then I drop everything and run to the TV!
We all head to my parents’ house for lunch, pet the donkeys, my husband and two boys throw the football with Uncles Ben and Andy, we take the obligatory family pics, then head off to my husband’s Mema’s for dinner leftovers.
Same every year, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
